In Memory Of...

.. Brian Jacques....
He was my favorite author. I read all of his book at least 5 times each. He had a way with words like no other author.
He passed away on February 5, of a fatal heart-attack.
He has written over 20 books. He finished one just before he passed away.

"A hare for gluttony and selfless bravery, a mole for good sense and dependability, a mouse for fearless courage"
"Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us."

"So here is my story, may it bring
Some smiles and a tear or so,
It happened once upon a time,
Far away, and long ago,
Outside the night wind keens and wails,
Come listen to me, the Teller of Tales!"

"Shake paws, count your claws,
You steal mine, I'll borrow yours.
Watch my whiskers, check both ears.
Robber foxes have no fears.

"Step aside? I step aside for nobeast, whether it be a hallowed hedgehog, an officious otter, a seasoned squirrel, a mutterin' mole or a befuddled badger!"

COLD.

Okay, maybe not THHAAAT cold, but it's pretty stinkin cold here.
When I woke up this morning at around.... 8:34 (yes, I slept in a bit) the temperature was 25.
Now that for us hot-house-plant people down here, is reallllllllly cold.
I went outside to see how our early spring flowers were doing.. Not so well.. Our pretty white iris froze and flopped over, and our narcissus's were all droopy looking.
Our birds down here are probably thinking an ice age is on its way.

Hey!! It's Groundhog day today!! So come on all you groundhogs! Start poppin up out of the ground and let us know how many more days of winter we have!! :)

New truck!!!!!!

This our new yellow Dodge truck. We call him "Old Yeller". ;)
I love it so much. It is a very "me" truck.
It's pretty comfortable too.. The horn is a little puny on it though..
It isn't diesel, so when you start it, it doesn't deafen you with its LOUD rumblings.

Old Yeller through our Chinese tallow tree out front.
Old Yeller in our drive way, with palm trees for a backdrop.
Old Yeller at Tractor Supply....:) I like Tractor Supply.
Old Yeller is a 1500. ... ... you can't really see it, but it is. :)

So yep. I like our new truck, AKA Old Yeller.

I'm in love with the beach

The beach is probably one of my favorite places to be ever. The sounds of the waves on the shore is very relaxing. The sounds of the random seagull is very relaxing.. unless they're above your head, screeching for food. Then they ain't so nice.
I guess maybe the only bad thing about living so close to the ocean, is that hurricanes come through every once and a while.. I've only had to leave for two. And I'm thankful that nothing has ever happened to our house. Even though our poor trees have gotten a pretty good beating from them. But hey, trees are trees. They can recover from stuff, unless they are uprooted. But houses... they don't grow back. Especially if they get uprooted.
The other bad thing about living by the ocean, is that when you play in the water, you always have that little fear in the back of your head, wondering if a shark is about to decide if your going to be its lunch. Thankfully, I've never had to deal with that either... (yet....) But I guess if you don't like to get in the water, than you don't have to worry about that.

Almost every year after Summer, when I watch stuff on Animal Planet about shark attacks etc., I almost always say, "I'm NEVER getting in that water again".. But when Summer rolls around, and the opportunity comes to get in the water, I forget all the things I've heard on the television about shark attacks, and scary stuff like that. The ocean just has that effect on you. When you see the water, you just forget about all the stuff that "could" happen. Hopefully nothing bad will ever happen.

I think everybody should be within a 5 hour radius of the beach.
